The Role

We are currently seeking a highly experienced and visionary professional to join our team as the Head of Marketing, and Recruitment for the University of Portsmouth London Campus. You will build and lead a team of specialists encompassing brand development, education liaison and outreach, recruitment, campaign marketing, and admissions communications. Your primary focus will be to develop and implement effective strategies and plans to attract the right students from the London and UK market. Responsible for the entire UK recruitment cycle from awareness-raising to enrolment, you will lead a diverse team to ensure the delivery of integrated marketing campaigns that elevate the profile and reputation of the University of Portsmouth's London Campus among prospects and their direct influencers.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and execute tailored student recruitment marketing plans and campaigns to promote awareness, drive leads, and improve conversion, while supporting annual marketing and student recruitment targets.
  2. Develop and implement a comprehensive digital marketing strategy to drive student recruitment, focusing on social media, paid search, display advertising, and email marketing. Ensure digital marketing efforts are data-driven, optimised for lead generation. Monitor and analyse digital campaign performance, using insights to continuously refine strategies and improve conversion rates.
  3. Drive strategic decisions around portfolio development, tariffs, fees, and market positioning based on market insights and intelligence, ensuring alignment with the University's targets and ambitions.
  4. Build and maintain strong relationships with feeder schools and colleges, ensuring cohesive partnership and widening participation efforts to support student recruitment.
  5. Design and implement an effective content strategy that showcases the University's academic profile and research impact across key marketing channels.
  6. Serve as a strategic leader and advisor on all marketing and student recruitment matters, working closely with COO, Campus Principal and governing bodies of London Campus.
  7. Collaborate with Admissions to establish an effective offer strategy, optimizing the University's market positioning and maximizing conversion throughout the student journey.
  8. Oversee the London campus' web and digital content, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities, up-to-date technology, and stakeholder expectations.
  9. Manage the marketing and student recruitment budget, resources, and senior team members, ensuring high-quality outcomes, impactful KPIs, and adherence to 'best value' principles.
  10. Maintain a robust professional network and influential relationships with industry peers, staying informed on best practices, trends, and opportunities to benefit the University.

Requirements:

  1. Significant experience in leading and managing marketing and student recruitment within higher education.
  2. Proven success operating at senior management level and leading high-performing teams.
  3. Comprehensive understanding of student recruitment, conversion activities, and sector regulations influencing marketing strategies.
  4. Strong track record in customer relationship management and delivering results in competitive markets.
  5. Experience in driving continuous innovation and achieving challenging targets.
  6. Experience working with both public and independent higher education providers which introduce flexible intakes is welcomed.
  7. Expertise in managing substantial budgets and resource allocation.
  8. Ability to make strategic decisions in fast-paced, dynamic environments, with extensive knowledge of the marketing mix.
  9. Extensive experience in developing and executing successful digital marketing strategies, including the use of social media, paid search, display advertising, and email marketing to drive student recruitment.
