About the Role
An exciting opportunity is available within Student Welfare and Support Services as we seek to appoint a Deputy Head of Counselling to join our vibrant, highly collaborative and forward-thinking service leadership team. You will work closely with the existing three Deputies, supporting the Head of Counselling in the clinical and strategic leadership, operational delivery and ongoing development of Counselling and Psychological Services at Oxford. You will take day to day responsibility for clinical decision making in relation to clients’ progression through the service, working closely with the administrative team, and will need the experience, confidence and flexibility to be able to step in to direct delivery of any aspect of service. You will recruit, induct, mentor and directly line manage staff in the clinical team, in addition to holding individual and group clinical supervision responsibilities.
You will be expected to develop and co-ordinate agreed projects in the service and across the University that would be likely to change over time, and will also hold a caseload of clinical work (including 1:1, group work, workshops and supervision). In addition, you will provide specialist information, advice and training across the collegiate University for those in welfare, pastoral and tutorial roles.
This is a multi-faceted role operating in a complex and demanding environment with an opportunity to be involved in developing a high quality clinical service, as well as overseeing day-to-day operations, with the overall goal of providing a positive experience for students at Oxford.
