About the role

A fantastic opportunity to join Imperial as a Software Asset Management lead (SAM) within the Information Communication and Technologies department (ICT). The SAM role is part of the Digital Workplace team and is responsible for all centrally managed software licenses, supporting software acquisitions, compliance, maintenance, lifecycle planning, purchase orders and the decommissioning of licenses. The post holder will work closely with ICT Commercial and Administration support teams, customers and college approved suppliers.

What you would be doing

  • Ensuring all managed and contracted software licenses are accounted for.
  • Maintaining a central inventory of all software licenses including maintenance agreements; ensuring they are owned properly within ICT.
  • Ensuring the software catalogue is current and updated when required.
  • Ensuring invoices are paid for all software bought for ICT or on behalf of customers.
  • Ensuring all centrally managed software licences are valid, distributed to those entitled, re-harvested and used within the vendors terms and conditions.
  • Validating license quantities and costs meet the needs of the customer(s) and the college.
  • Ensuring cost efficiencies are realised during renewal or new purchase processes and providing supporting license usage reports to support decisions.
  • Ensuring all knowledge articles and website content is kept up to date.

What we are looking for

You will have comprehensive experience in a Software Asset Management role or similar in a large organisation with ITAM qualification(s). Excellent analytical skills, highly organised with a structured and methodical approach. The ability to produce reports using data from various sources that contain purchasing, licensing and compliance information. You must also have proven multi-tasking and team leadership skills when leading multiple work assignments.

You will have an excellent understanding of software licensing, terms and conditions including how to interpret End User License Agreements to ensure that the College remains compliant. Extensive experience in liaising with external suppliers and comprehensive knowledge of Configuration Management Databases and Configuration Items within a service management tool. The candidate will have experience in the implementation and development of SAM tools, processes and procedures.
