About the Role
Working closely with the Director for Research Operations (DRO), the role holder will contribute to the operational delivery of the JRMO, adopting a solution-focused approach to develop and improve an excellent customer-focused research administration service.
A key focus of this role will be to provide expert support and guidance to Clinical and Senior Leaders in the administration of current and future Joint Research Initiatives between Barts Health NHS Trust (Barts Health) and Queen Mary, University of London (QMUL). The post-holder will work collaboratively with colleagues across the JRMO, QMUL, and Barts Health to ensure financial returns are proportionate to activity and delivery, while maintaining financial transparency and alignment with the strategic objectives of both partners. This will involve engagement at all stages of the study lifecycle, including Pre-Award, Post-Award Oversight/Management, and Partner Relationships. Existing initiatives include the NIHR Barts Biomedical Research Centre (BRC), the NIHR North London Regional Research Delivery Network, the NIHR Barts Clinical Research Facility, the Academic Centre for Healthy Ageing, and Barts Life Sciences.
The post-holder will lead efforts to streamline and harmonise the research award lifecycle within the JRMO, encompassing pre-award activities, governance approvals, and post-award setup processes. Working closely with the DRO, they will support the integration of JRMO departments, contributing to the development of efficient working practices and fostering a culture of inclusion.
About Queen Mary
At QMUL, we believe that a diversity of ideas helps us achieve the previously unthinkable.
Throughout our history, we’ve fostered social justice and improved lives through academic excellence. And we continue to live and breathe this spirit today, not because it’s simply ‘the right thing to do’ but for what it helps us achieve and the intellectual brilliance it delivers.
We continue to embrace diversity of thought and opinion in everything we do, in the belief that when views collide, disciplines interact, and perspectives intersect, truly original thought takes form.
Benefits
We offer competitive salaries, access to a generous pension scheme, 30 days’ leave per annum (pro-rata for part-time/fixed-term), a season ticket loan scheme and access to a comprehensive range of personal and professional development opportunities. In addition, we offer a range of work life balance and family friendly, inclusive employment policies, flexible working arrangements, and campus facilities.
