The Department
This post sits within UWL’s Recruitment and Customer Relationships Team which is responsible for the University’s UK student recruitment and outreach activity and for supporting prospective students from initial enquiry through to enrolment. The team is part of the Marketing, Recruitment and Communications Department which also includes the Communications, Events, Campaigns, Digital and Admissions Teams.
The Role
The University of West London’s outreach work aims to promote fair access and widening participation in higher education.
The Outreach Officer will be responsible for planning, coordinating, delivering and evaluating a range of long term projects and activities to ensure that the University of West London meets its objectives and targets as set out in its Access and Participation Plan. This will involve developing, maintaining and enhancing relationships with key identified schools, colleges and other target groups, working closely with academic colleagues and other stakeholders to involve them in the University’s outreach activity.
The Person
We are looking for a creative thinker with experience of designing, implementing and evaluating long-term projects and activities within an education or learning setting. You will have excellent communication, presentation and organisational skills and the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders. You will be able to work as part of a team and on your own initiative to identify new opportunities in support of the University’s widening participation agenda and to act as an advocate for widening participation at all levels of the University. A commitment to widening access and an understanding of the potential barriers to participation in higher education is essential as is a flexible, proactive approach.
