About the role

Leeds Beckett University is seeking a Principal Learning Officer (PLO) to join our vibrant Psychology team. This is an exciting opportunity to support cutting-edge research and high-quality teaching in a thriving academic environment. You will play a key role in managing psychology laboratory resources, providing technical expertise, and contributing to student learning and research outcomes.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide high-level technical support for teaching, research, and consultancy within the Psychology Subject Group.
  • Deliver training on specialist equipment/software, including EEG systems (e.g., Biosemi, BrainAnalyzer) and cognitive testing tools (e.g., CANTAB, E-Prime, Psychopy).
  • Maintain laboratory facilities and ensure equipment safety, repair, and availability.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and student recruitment activities.
  • Collaborate with academic staff to develop and maintain technical resources, operating procedures, and data management systems compliant with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards.
  • Mentor junior staff, coordinate with external organizations, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

What we’re looking for:

We’re seeking a highly skilled professional with:

  • A degree or vocational qualification in Psychology or related fields (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience with psychology laboratory equipment and relevant software.
  • Knowledge of cognitive testing and/or EEG systems.
  • Strong interpersonal, teaching, and technical skills.
  • A commitment to providing a safe and inclusive learning environment.
