Liaising with: Vice Principals (Academic Affairs)

Accessible to: The Manging Director and Vice Principal (External Affairs)

Introduction:

Founded in 2003, ICON College of Technology and Management is a private higher and further education institution based in the East End of London and has in excess of 1,500 students. The College seeks to improve its student offerings year on year and develop a student-centred learning experience based on current teaching and learning pedagogies and systems of assessment. The College also seeks to satisfy the ever-increasing demands on higher education required by the Office for Students (OfS) and the Department for Education (DfE) in terms of widening participation. In the past eighteen months the College has established a partnership with Bishop Grosseteste University. This means that in addition to offering its Higher National Diploma (HND) qualifications awarded by Pearson, the College can now also provide a range of undergraduate degree level courses. Please see the College website (www.iconcollege.ac.uk) for further details of the full range of courses and subjects offered.

The College has a diverse range of students in terms of ability and age range, with the current student population being classed as ‘mature students’ although over time the student profile will change to reflect its new emphasis on ethnic minority groups and other under- represented groups in higher education. To meet this demand, the College has created a new role of Student Academic Career and Employment Adviser (SACEA)

The new role of Student Academic Career and Employment Adviser (SACEA) is being advertised to enable the College to provide both careers advice to students and going seminars and other activities to improve students’ employment skills and capabilities.
