UCL Careers provides careers education to current students, graduates and staff of UCL, as well as recruitment solutions for employers. UCL Careers provides a ‘core’ central service accessible to all students as well as varying degrees of more ‘local’ provision within schools, faculties and individual departments.

Within UCL Careers, the Work Related Learning team provides students and graduates with a variety of experiential activities to help them prepare for the workplace by enabling them to develop their understanding of different industries and the in-demand skills.

About the role

We are currently recruiting for a Work Related Learning Officer for SLASH/IOE (Social & Historical Sciences, Arts & Humanities, Laws, Institute of Education).

As a Work Related Learning Officer, you’ll organise a programme of activities for undergraduate and postgraduate taught students, enabling them to develop their understanding of different industries and build up skills to ensure that they’re ready for the workplace. The programme includes workshops, hackathons, challenges, competitions, work place visits and other forms of interactive learning that will help our students prepare for the future.

The programme is delivered in partnership with recruiters, alumni and other external partners, and with academic staff and other UCL colleagues. Building relationships with all of these groups will be an important part of the job.

You will also be responsible for the creation and promotion of engaging marketing materials, gathering relevant labour market intelligence, and collecting participation data and student feedback about the programme.

If you have any queries about the role, please contact John Braime (SLASH & IOE Work Related Learning Manager) .

Please clearly indicate in your application if you have a preference for either of the two roles.

About you

The ideal candidate for this role will have excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships with a range of stakeholders within academia and industry. You will have experience of delivering a programme of either work-related learning activities or events and training activities.

You will have strong organisational and project management skills and be able to plan for immediate and longer-term objectives and deadlines. You will have the ability to devise, plan and deliver multiple projects simultaneously within tight time scales.

You will respond proactively to colleague, student and employer needs with a focus on providing an excellent service.

Please note the postholder will be expected to work the occasional evenings during peak periods. You will be given equivalent time off in lieu as compensation.
