About the Role:

The Royal College of Art is expanding its commitment to student wellbeing in response to growing demand for specialised mental health support. We are seeking a resourceful Mental Health Coordinator to lead the continuous development of our Wellbeing Strategy. This critical role will play a key part in developing our assessment journey preparedness for the University Mental Health Charter and ensuring the delivery of integrated, high-quality mental health services that seamlessly align with existing welfare initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Student Support: Provide individualised support for students with complex mental health needs, including conducting risk assessments and managing crisis situations.
  • Strategic Leadership: Lead the continuous development of the College’s Mental Health Strategy and suicide prevention initiatives.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with academic departments, welfare services, and external agencies to ensure cohesive support for students.
  • Staff Guidance: Offer expert advice and training for staff and members of the Students’ Union on managing and responding to student mental health challenges.
  • Community Engagement: Drive awareness and promote a culture of wellbeing through initiatives, workshops, and events.
  • Policy Development: Contribute to the development of policies and procedures that support a fully inclusive learning environment.

About You:

We’re looking for someone with considerable initiative and a passion for mental health advocacy. Experience in a university setting is beneficial, though not essential. What matters most is your ability to develop and deliver a responsive, professional service that meets the diverse needs of our students and staff. Collaboration is key in this role, as you’ll be working with a wide range of stakeholders both within and outside the College.
