About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Health & Safety Advisor to work closely with the Head of Health and Safety in providing a high level of proficient advice to managers and staff across BGS. You will support world-class science by leading, monitoring and advising on health, safety and regulatory compliance issues. Whilst being a key member of the health and safety team, you will have a responsibility for leading on the health and safety within our laboratories as well as having the flexibility and knowledge to support the wider BGS functions.

About you
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated health & safety advisor to join our team and contribute to maintaining a safe and compliant environment within our organisation. This exciting opportunity will suit a professional with a passion for health and safety, particularly within a scientific or research environment.
You will be responsible for investigating incidents, reviewing and analysing work practices and procedures, and ensuring the highest standards of safety are maintained across all operations. You will collaborate with various teams, including trade unions, to resolve health and safety issues and improve working conditions. A key focus will be on promoting a strong health and safety culture across the organisation. You should demonstrate an interest in the work of BGS and your own continuing professional development.
