The Team 

The University of Cambridge Institute of Continuing Education (ICE) delivers high-quality and distinctive educational programmes for adult learners, predominantly studying on a part-time basis, for either personal enrichment or professional development. ICE aims to ensure that the expertise and resources of the University of Cambridge are made available to all students, irrespective of their previous educational achievement. 

The ICE Quality Assurance team works across the Institute's course portfolio to manage and coordinate core processes that ensure that the Institute's teaching complies with University regulations and the requirements of regulatory agencies and inspectorates (such as the Office for Students and Ofsted). 

Our activities primarily take place at Madingley Hall (a residential Grade I listed building), which provides facilities for conferences and events, and a full hotel service. Madingley Hall has 13 meeting rooms, 62 ensuite bedrooms, a bar and lounge, set in 8 acres of grounds (including Capability Brown designed gardens). 

The Role 

Working within ICE's Quality Assurance Office, the Quality Assurance and Committee Coordinator works across the Institute's portfolio to manage and coordinate core administrative tasks which ensure that the Institute's teaching complies with University regulations and the requirements of regulatory agencies and inspectorates such as the Office for Students and Ofsted. 

The role holder reports to the Head of Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement and line-manages the Quality Assurance and Committee Administrators to ensure the timely, consistent, transparent and effective implementation of key QA policies and procedures in order to promote an excellent student experience and high academic standards. 

You will line manage two Quality Assurance Administrators, supporting them in their role and providing opportunities for professional development.

Your Skills 

You will: 

  • have experience of working in a within a quality assurance or compliance role, preferably in the higher education sector   
  • be able to scope, design and implement best practice processes and procedures in relation to higher education using an evidence- and data-led approach  
  • have an understanding of regulatory frameworks (e.g. OfS, QAA, Ofsted)  
  • have minute-taking and committee-servicing experience  
  • have work collaboratively with multiple senior stakeholders and services to deliver improvement projects.

ICE is supportive of hybrid working, the current arrangements have staff working 2 days on site in Maddingly Hall and 3 days worked remotely, for those working Monday to Friday and where the role allows. These arrangements are subject to change and will not form part of the terms and conditions of employment.
