This role acts as the primary wellbeing and student experience contact working closely with senior academics and Professional Services colleagues to put students at the heart of everything we do. The post carries a high degree of autonomy, with management and advisory responsibility for the student experience and wellbeing teams, maintains oversight of complex student cases and is responsible for service improvements.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To build and maintain effective relationships with College professional services and academic staff, Guild of Students, and central teams ensuring effective pathways for liaison, support, training and development opportunities, embedding the student voice and empowering staff and students to drive positive change.
  • To act as the primary contact and work with Central Wellbeing Services in leading the College’s provision of first line support and advice to students.
  • Formulating a long-term strategy for improving student experience within the College, creating a community and standardising the approach.
  • Manage major student experience and wellbeing change projects and respond positively and effectively to a range of discrete opportunities and challenges which arise both internally and externally including supplying and manipulating relevant management information.
  • Evaluate service provision and recommend and implement innovative solutions to improve quality and efficiency
  • Manage the diverse Student Experience and Wellbeing, team ensuring relevant targets and goals are achieved within resource constraints delivering support where required to intermediary manager

Skills and Knowledge:

  • An excellent understanding of the student lifecycle with extensive experience of student facing service delivery and working with students and staff at all levels.
  • Demonstrable experience of using innovative and creative approaches to developing teams and services to achieve excellent outcomes and using innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Experience of managing and leading change, influencing cultural change and breaking down barriers to effective working across disciplines including writing policies and strategies to support local change.
  • Ability to monitor and evaluate the extent to which equality and diversity legislation, policies, procedures are applied.
  • Significant experience of managing staff through intermediate managers; including experience of devising and implementing complex staff structures.
  • Ability to manage own workload, plan effectively, balance competing priorities and work to deadlines
  • Experience of interpreting management information and a high level of data and computer literacy.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex messages to non-experts and to influence and negotiate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Experience of delivering projects to high standards with minimal supervision to tight deadlines

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Educated to Degree level (or equivalent qualifications) plus significant relevant practical experience – where no equivalent qualification is held substantial practical relevant experience and expertise in a series of progressively more demanding roles will be required.
  • Substantial experience at a senior management level of developing and implementing plans in a large and complex organisation.
