About the role

We are seeking a Developer to join the Oracle development team in the IT Services Division at the University of Sussex. You will play a crucial role in supporting the University's core solutions using PLSQL and Oracle Forms. In this position, you will ensure smooth operations within the BAU team. Your work will span both routine support and exciting project opportunities, from execution through to post-go-live support.

Your responsibilities will include identifying, designing, building, installing, integrating, testing, debugging, and adding new features to software systems and components. You will play a key role in rebuilding our infrastructure and integrating new systems, with a significant focus on utilising the Boomi API management tool.

About you

You will bring strong hands-on experience in Oracle PLSQL and Oracle Forms, coupled with substantial software development expertise. Your knowledge of professional software development practices and SDLCs will be essential in driving our projects forward.

Additionally, you should have well-developed oral and written communication skills that enable you to present policies and procedures clearly to various audiences. Effective planning and organisational skills, with the ability to delegate to team members as needed, are essential. You must also demonstrate a strong commitment to customer excellence and possess effective IT skills, particularly on the Microsoft platform.

About our Division

Led by our Chief Digital Transformation Officer and his Leadership team, we are now embarking on an ambitious programme of change. Over the coming years, this digital transition will be an ever-developing programme supported by senior stakeholders both financially and strategically. This University will be a very different world in years to come and aspires to achieve levels of performance and digital delivery yet unseen in the sector. All of this is underpinned by major construction and estate renewal, an exciting programme of work to add thousands of accommodation spaces, and a network replacement project to install the latest digital infrastructure as part of the journey towards a fully data-enabled organisation.
