We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic individual interested in macroevolution to join the lab of Dr. Gavin Thomas to work on a UKRI funded project ‘Evolutionary routes to phenotypic convergence in vertebrates’. This role provides an opportunity to work as part of a team in a vibrant research environment, within the Ecology and Evolutionary Biology Cluster in the School of Biosciences. This is an excellent opportunity to undertake high-quality, international research that will advance our knowledge of the ubiquity of convergence and our understanding of limits to evolution and the diversity of life on Earth.
The project will involve using large-scale, specimen-based phenotypic databases and advanced phylogenetic comparative methods to study the frequency, strength, and constraints on convergence. The project is in collaboration with Dr. Natalie Cooper at the Natural History Museum.
Applicants must have a PhD in a relevant subject area along with experience of phylogenetic comparative analysis. Previous experience working with multivariate analysis of large data sets is also essential.
We’re one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK.
