We are excited to be inviting applications for a self-motivated and enthusiastic Technician to join our School’s Technical Team. You will play an important role in supporting our staff, assisting in day-to-day running of our eye-clinic, laboratories, and communal areas of our teaching and research activities.
The role would suit someone who enjoys interacting with people, has some experience of maintaining equipment and of running commercial or research laboratories, is organised and comfortable with using various IT software packages. The role requires someone with a can-do attitude, has problem-solving skills, along with an ability to cover a broad range of tasks in a day, and work in a fast-paced environment.
The School of Optometry and Vision Sciences, based in Cathays, is a purpose-built facility; credited with being the only optometric training department in Wales and one of the largest in the UK. With an international reputation for its research and teaching activities, the School includes a number of award-winning staff and students and is ranked in 1st place in the UK for Optometry (Complete University Guide). This position is open-ended, full time (35 hours per week) and is available immediately.
Salary: £24,600 - £25,433 per annum (Grade 3). Appointments to roles at Cardiff University are usually made at bottom of scale unless in exceptional circumstances.
