The Full-time starting salary is normally £27,991.00 per annum with progression available in post to £30,425.00 per annum.

This post is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Technician to an existing Clinical skills and simulation team supporting faculty staff and students involved in courses for the health and social care professions. The role will focus on providing technical support for teaching that involves virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technologies, assisting staff with set-up, troubleshooting and general hardware and software aspects. Additional duties include technical support for all clinical simulation areas including, but not limited to, clinic/ward/room preparation, clean up, maintenance of human patient simulators, maintaining inventories of assets and maintaining storage areas. and other duties as assigned by the Skills Team Leader.

We are keen to receive applications from candidates with some experience in supporting AR/VR technologies who are motivated and able to use their own initiative and demonstrate the team ethic of ‘Excellence in Practice’. 

Experience in a simulation-related role or an equivalent combination of education/experience in a clinical/technical role is desirable. The minimum qualifications include BTEC, HND, NVQ (level 3 or above) or equivalent with a minimum of GSCE maths and English language or equivalent. 

The role requires a strong understanding of applied workplace health & safety, excellent communication skills and a proactive attitude to assisting staff and students with support requirements.

The appointed candidate will normally be employed through our subsidiary company BCU Support Services Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Birmingham City University.
