We have the opportunity to recruit a highly motivated laboratory technician to join the Jenner Institute at the Nuffield Department of Medicine, University of Oxford.
You will assist the scientific research staff in providing laboratory and some general administrative support to Jenner Institute. You will be working alongside the senior laboratory technician in the preparation of reagents and sterile media, maintaining supplies and consumables, placing and receipting orders, glass washing and autoclaving and ensuring smooth running of laboratory equipment.
You will communicate with the ORCRB stores manager and assisting the laboratory manager in organising and distributing of incoming goods to their respective users. You will be responsible for assisting the laboratory manager in the maintenance and servicing of equipment and also ensuring the Health and Safety requirements of the University are met.
To be successful in this role, you will be educated to A-level standard or above in life sciences with experience working in a scientific laboratory environment. You will have excellent organisational skills and experience of stock control and have the flexibility and ability to work co-operatively as part of a team, as well as independently. Excellent written and oral communication skills, and computer competency in Microsoft packages are also required. You will also have the ability to organise your own work load and take initiative as appropriate.
