The School of Engineering is looking to appoint a technician to support research activities. You should have served a recognised apprenticeship as a Toolmaker/Precision Machinist and be qualified to BTEC Higher Level (or equivalent qualification). You must have extensive machining knowledge on both conventional and CNC workshop/toolroom machinery. Also, CNC programming knowledge, preferably with modern CAM off-line programming skills. You should be able to work under minimum supervision to produce complex components from a variety of materials, including design and manufacture of jigs and fixtures.
Your duties will involve assisting with the manufacture and assembly of a large piece of research equipment. You will support the commissioning and development of the test facility and assist in its operation.
The post is fixed term and is available until 30th June 2027.
