About Us

Atopic dermatitis (AD) stands as the most burdensome skin disease globally, ranking 15th among all non-fatal diseases. Significantly, there exists a knowledge gap regarding the prevalence, incidence, co-morbidities, and risk factors of AD, especially within low-income settings. There is currently no comprehensive atlas resource that systematically consolidates data on AD burden, co-morbidities, and risk factors.

The Global Atopic Dermatitis Atlas (GADA)  is an exciting opportunity to be involved in the establishment and development of a novel, high profile project working with world-leading experts in the field of atopic dermatitis and allergy, as well as the International League of Dermatological Societies, the International Eczema Council, the International Society for Atopic Dermatitis, and Global Skin, and the World Health Organization.

The project is led by Professor Carsten Flohr, Chair in Dermatology and Population Health Science at St John’s Institute of Dermatology, King’s College London. Our Institute is the leading clinical and academic centre for cutaneous medicine in Europe.

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Research Assistant with a keen interest in epidemiology or public health to join the Global Atopic Dermatitis Atlas (GADA) project, led by Professor Carsten Flohr, Chair in Dermatology and Population Health Sciences at King’s College London. The project aims to create a global resource by standardising the collection of atopic dermatitis data, making it freely accessible on one platform.

In this role, you will work closely with the wider GADA network across all continents, including our Steering Committee members, the International League of Dermatological Societies (ILDS), the International Society of Atopic Dermatitis (ISAD), the International Eczema Council (IEC), and Global Skin. You will also contribute to the development of the GADA photo atlas, a new initiative designed to compile a comprehensive collection of representative images of atopic dermatitis across diverse skin types worldwide. This project includes the opportunity to collaborate closely with the World Health Organisation. Additionally, you will have the chance to support other GADA workstreams, such as the registers GADA is setting up in lower resource settings, conducting systematic reviews on the burden of atopic dermatitis, carrying out international surveys, drafting manuscripts, and assisting with funding applications.

Find out more information about the GADA Project here:

https://www.atopicdermatitisatlas.org/en/

Please contact the GADA Study Coordinator, Dr Suzanne Keddie, for any further information about the post (suzanne.keddie@kcl.ac.uk).

This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an a fixed term contract until 31st March 2027.
