We are the University of Cumbria, for and from Cumbria and our localities, rooted in serving our communities, with people, place and partnership at our heart.
Now is a very exciting time to be joining us because we are delivering a new "Towards 2030" strategic plan focused on making the most of our three most valuable assets; People, Place and Partnerships, to become a catalyst for economic well-being for our region, nationally and internationally.
We are seeking an experienced manager to help shape and develop the timely delivery of student statutory returns within the Academic Registry. Reporting to the Head of Student Systems and Data, you will provide leadership and management to an experienced Student Statutory Returns Team and manage the accurate preparation and submission of returns including Data Futures, HESES (Higher Education Students Early Statistics), ITT (Initial Teacher Training), Aggregate Offshore and DiscoverUni.
This pivotal role provides a fantastic opportunity to build on the work undertaken for our previous Data Futures submissions. It's a chance for you to establish and embed good practice, helping to both meet our regulatory responsibilities and provide a solid foundation for the strategic use of data across the University. This role requires close collaboration with the Student Data Manager, Finance, Data Insights and a variety of stakeholders, interpreting data and ensuring its accuracy, and guiding the development of data quality processes. The Student Statutory Returns Manager will serve as a key liaison point for other data owners, offering guidance on data returns and funding body policies and procedures.
The successful candidate will have experience of preparing data returns in an education context with significant experience in data analysis and reporting and will have recognised expertise to advise on, develop, maintain and continuously improve data governance across the University and in line with University strategy, policies, regulations and procedures. Drawing on external best practice and professional networks, the Student Statutory Returns Manager will provide expert advice and support to others and demonstrate highly developed organisational, communication and networking skills as well as having the ability to lead a team.
