The role will support workstreams to improve data sharing between the NHS and post-16 Education Providers to support access between providers and the understanding of student mental health in Wales. The role will include working with a range of partners from student services, clinicians and IT and data professionals with varied backgrounds and levels of expertise, the role holder must be personable, diligent and a confident communicator with excellence organisational and networking skills to deal with the varied demands of the role.

The primary purpose for the role will be to work with a range of data controllers and staff from across post-16 Education providers and Healthcare to provide specialist support to overcome barriers to data sharing. The role holder will lead on the development of appropriate data sharing agreements with the data controllers to support improvements in data sharing. This is across 2 workstreams supporting pathway developments for student mental health between the NHS and Post-16 Education Providers and the development of standardising Student Mental Health data across Wales in post-16 education.

The National Student Mental Health Partnership Programme includes workstreams with all Welsh Higher Education Institutes, Further Education Institutes and NHS Health Boards. The programme is funded to develop a shared programme of work which will improve access to mental health support for post-16 education students in Wales. The funding is secured until July 2025, but additional funding may be sought for the role for a longer contract under Medr, the new Commission for Tertiary Education and Research, if this is required.

It is assumed this post will be based in Cardiff University, but regular visits to other partner sites are anticipated. The role may combine home working and visits to partner sites across Wales, therefore regular travel will be required.
