About the role

King's Foundations is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced professional educator to join as the Head of the King’s International Foundation Programme.

For this key leadership role, we are looking for an experienced educator to join our team and lead our King’s International Foundation Programme (KIF). The KIF is the largest in-house international foundation programme in the UK with over 900 students studying on our programme each year.  It is a highly competitive programme attracting dedicated and hardworking students from across the world eager to progress onto an undergraduate degree in one of the nine faculties at King’s College London.

The successful candidate will be an exceptional, well-rounded leader in pre-undergraduate international education with experience overseeing programmes focussing on supporting student transition into UK higher education.  They will hold an in-depth knowledge of and experience of working in level 3 international foundation provision as well as expertise in: assessment design; programme, pathway and module management; educational leadership; programme development and student support.

The successful candidate will collaborate with staff and students across the university to ensure our provision meets the needs of students progressing through the programme. They will lead a team of Coordinators, Senior Tutors, Module Leaders and other academic staff and will take a leading role in the development and implementation of the programme’s short- and long-term strategy.

About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  • Strong leadership abilities in a HEI or equivalent setting, with experience of championing educational initiatives & motivating colleagues to reach their potential. 
  • Hold a relevant postgraduate degree and teaching qualification, plus Senior Fellow of HEA status or commitment to obtaining it. 
  • Extensive experience in overseeing Level 3 international foundation programmes at higher education institutions, with a proven track record of enhancing student outcomes through innovative curriculum design & evidence-based practices. 
  • Proven ability to manage large, complex programmes of study, including overseeing resources & staff, and implementing effective monitoring and evaluation processes to ensure programme quality and continuous improvement. 
  • Extensive expertise and experience in designing and implementing innovative assessment and feedback approaches for Level 3 international foundation programmes. 
  • Extensive experience of successful teaching in higher education, including on pre-university pathway provision.    
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting the values of EDI in education and professional working environments.  
  • Proven track record of undertaking educational scholarship in an area relevant to the role.
