Background
Sport and Leisure Services lies within the Student and Academic Services portfolio, providing Sport and Leisure opportunities to Students, Staff, Alumni and Community Users. Sport and Leisure Services directly or indirectly manages a range of high-quality Sport Facilities and delivers a range of health, fitness, and wellbeing initiatives across the University. Our role is squarely focused on Student Experience and directly supporting the University’s Strategic Vision.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be skilled at greeting customers, handling inquiries, and ensuring smooth entry. Responsibilities include assisting with events, managing cash transactions, and maintaining quality assurance by reporting incidents and keeping the reception area tidy. Administrative tasks include data entry, processing bookings, and managing lost property, along with updating displays and facilitating deliveries. The role requires adherence to safety procedures and effective communication with the team.
Person Specification
The ideal candidate will have strong IT skills, particularly in Word and Excel, and possess excellent customer service skills with a professional telephone manner. They should be capable of managing fluctuating workloads and prioritizing tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Good time management and the ability to work independently or as part of a team are essential. Experience in a busy customer-focused environment is crucial, while an interest in health and fitness and experience with computerized reservation systems are desirable.
