Faculty / Directorate
The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences (HLS) is a large Faculty that offers education across a number of health and social care courses and is home to four specialist schools - Allied Health Sciences, Applied Social Sciences, The Leicester School of Nursing and Midwifery, and The Leicester School of Pharmacy. The Faculty educates and develops professionals who make a significant difference to lives, health, wellbeing, communities and society. Teaching reflects the latest developments in the sector and many courses have professional accreditations.
A range of work experience and volunteering opportunities enables students to develop the skills sought by graduate employers. Recent graduates have secured roles with leading employers such as AstraZeneca, The Ministry of Defence and the NHS. The Faculty has dedicated clinical simulation facilities, featuring industry-standard equipment which is designed to replicate current practice, enabling staff and students to undertake practice to develop clinical skills to improve health and social care.
Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an individual to join our Adult Nursing academic team in The Leicester School of Nursing and Midwifery on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will support delivery of nursing and midwifery school curricula, including pre and post-registration provision, through a variety of teaching and learning activities. The successful candidate will join a team of enthusiastic, committed and friendly staff and will work collaboratively with colleagues across the School, Faculty and the wider University. Applicants must have NMC-registration and expertise in Adult nursing field of practice.
Ideal Candidate
We are seeking an enthusiastic individual who is passionate about nursing education and who has the relevant academic skills and specialist in depth clinical experience to teach across a range of foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate school programmes. You will be involved in teaching, marking and moderation, pastoral support, admission of students and have the opportunity to develop curricula and lead modules. You will also provide students and their practice supervisors and assessors with support in a range of clinical practice areas. You will be expected to engage in scholarship, research and professional/external income generation activities in ways that contribute to the University/School’s objectives and contribute to ensuring up-to-date, leading edge teaching.
Applicants must possess contemporary clinical knowledge in the Adult field of Nursing practice. Applications will be considered from individuals who are able to demonstrate a good depth of subject understanding in areas relevant to the School which include ITU/critical care, community nursing or health related research. Individuals must be able to demonstrate evidence of ongoing professional development in their field. A recognised teaching qualification, or willingness to undertake a course to gain a teaching qualification is essential.
