Role
We are seeking a senior leader to collaborate closely with the PVC/Dean in guiding the Faculty, including shaping its strategic direction and driving its development. You will be responsible for providing leadership, vision and strategy in managing the faculty’s planning and resources to support the full range of teaching and research activities across the faculty.
The Deputy Dean will be a member of the Faculty Leadership Board and will lead and oversee the day-to-day strategic and operational aspects of the faculty alongside the Dean, including workforce planning, business risk management, budgetary control, student number planning, research and enterprise activity. You will take responsibility for a cross-faculty portfolio as allocated, and will drive and lead that portfolio to provide faculty and, where appropriate, institutional-wide change and improvement and ensure effective cross-faculty working.
The Deputy Dean will support the PVC/Dean in creating a stimulating, innovative and inclusive cultural environment in which staff and students thrive and develop and will deputise for the PVC/Dean as required, thereby contributing to corporate leadership on occasion.
The salary range for this role is between £94,500 to £105,000, dependant on skills and experience.
Ideal Candidate
You will hold a postgraduate qualification or demonstrate equivalent academic standing, alongside evidence of professional academic development within their area of expertise. You will also have sustained experience in a senior leadership or management role within a large and complex organisation, with a proven ability to define strategic direction and drive strategic development aligned with corporate goals. You will possess extensive experience in resource management, encompassing financial and human resources, with strong expertise in risk management, budget oversight, and the use of KPIs. You will also have a track record in workforce planning, capital development, and student number planning. Additionally, the ability to lead, motivate, and effectively develop a large team will be essential.
