The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences (HLS) at De Montfort University (DMU) is home to a wide range of laboratory based, pharmaceutical, healthcare, and social science courses. The faculty educates and develops professionals who make a significant difference to lives, health, wellbeing, communities and society. The Leicester School of Allied Health Sciences, within the faculty of HLS, offers a number UG and PG provisions including BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science and MSc Advanced Biomedical Science (both IBMS accredited).
Role
We are seeking to appoint a self-motivated individual to join our innovative Biomedical Science team. We are looking for an enthusiastic person with expertise to teach across the field of Biomedical Science, with knowledge and experience in the key clinical specialisms.
The successful applicant will primarily be engaged with high quality teaching, assessment and research project supervision on our undergraduate and postgraduate Biomedical Science programmes. The post holder will be expected to undertake large group teaching and contribute towards a range of Biomedical Science modules including cellular pathology, blood sciences, microbiology and others as required. They will provide pastoral support to students and also actively contribute to course management and development. The appointee will contribute to the School’s core activities including but not limited to student recruitment and development of projects to improve the student experience.
Ideal Candidate
You should hold a degree and either have completed a PhD in a Biomedical Science discipline or have equivalent experience as a practicing HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist with a demonstrated ability to transition to academia. You will have knowledge and the ability to apply blended learning approaches to provide a customised and flexible learning experience, conduct laboratory practical experiments and undergraduate/postgraduate project supervision or work-based learning supervision.
