About us

ICE's mission is to enable learning throughout life and to widen access to higher education. We design deliver and curate a portfolio of world leading short courses and award bearing qualifications in a broad range of disciplines.

The Student Data and Records Team supports the Institute of Continuing Education (ICE) operations in terms of student enrolment, data management and student support, monitoring student data quality and reporting on all aspects of student data for both matriculated and non-matriculated students. We are a small friendly and supportive team working with colleagues within ICE and and the wider University.

Our activities primarily take place at Madingley Hall (a residential Grade I listed  building), which provides facilities for conferences and events, and a full hotel service. Madingley Hall has 13 meeting rooms, 62 ensuite bedrooms, a bar and lounge, set in 8 acres of grounds (including Capability Brown designed gardens).

The Role

The role holder supports the Student Data Manager in the enrolment of students, the provision of essential services such as the student's library card, monitoring data quality and reporting on all aspects of student data for both matriculated and non-matriculated students across the Institute and wider University. The role involves a high quantity of data entry requiring a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

He/she ensures that student data is correctly maintained, providing accurate and timely statistical reporting of student data for internal and external purposes (e.g. HEFCE, HESA, HE-BCI).

Your Skills

You will:

  • have experience of providing accurate, responsive and timely administrative services, especially customer-facing and ideally within the Higher Education sector 
  • be able to demonstrate empathy, professionalism, and a good work ethic when dealing with students 
  • have excellent organisational skills, and the ability to plan and prioritise your own workload 
  • have excellent IT skills, including proficiency in Word, Excel and databases, and an ability to input data quickly and accurately 
  • ideally have some knowledge of the University of Cambridge and of the University's student database, CamSIS (although not essential and training will be given)

ICE is supportive of hybrid working, the current arrangements have staff working 2 days on site in Maddingly Hall and 3 days worked remotely, for those working Monday to Friday and where the role allows. These arrangements are subject to change and will not form part of the terms and conditions of employment.
