The opportunity
University of the Arts London (UAL) is looking for a Lecturer in Fashion and Sustainability to join our Product Programme at London College of Fashion (LCF) on a fixed-term basis.
You will assume responsibility for teaching, curriculum development, and on-going scholarship on the MA Fashion Futures Course. Based in the School of Design and Technology (SDT), this course helps to shape the next generation of sustainable brands and fashion pioneers.
Working collaboratively with the course team, you will deploy your specialist expertise to develop pedagogy and the curriculum in innovative and critical directions, stimulating thought and practice that challenges the canon of this subject area.
This role is divided between two days a week of teaching on the MA Fashion Futures course and three days a week working as the SDT School Lead for Sustainability. The Sustainability Lead works with staff and students across all our courses to maintain the high standards of sustainability education delivered within the school, working with both staff and students. Within this role you will coordinate the School’s ‘Climate Advocates’ for approximately one day per week.
About you
You will have an undergraduate degree in fashion design, product design, technology or an associated subject. A higher degree (e.g. MA) in a related subject such as fashion design, product design, technology or an associated subject, is desirable.
A teaching qualification (PG Cert or equivalent) and membership of the Higher Education Academy is an advantage but is not essential. You will have experience of teaching and assessment in a higher education environment and will consider all aspects of equality, diversity and inclusivity related to this. We are seeking a team player and collaborator who can work effectively and respectfully with a wide range of people
