About the Role
Recognising that international collaborations are dynamic and complex, and an area to which governments and funders are paying increasing attention in view of national security, we are recruiting a Research Security and Compliance Manager. This role will lead a team in identifying and mitigating risks related to international collaboration and enhance assurance in line with UK legislation and funder requirements.

The Joint Research Management Office (JRMO) supports researchers across Queen Mary, University of London and Bart’s Health NHS Trust. Our highly trained team is on hand to support a diverse range of research activities, from getting a project off the ground to ensuring its smooth running and future development. Our services include: Accurate project costing, Tender/application preparation and advice, Ongoing financial management of grants and awards, Assistance with ethics applications, Assistance with Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Agency applications, International Research partnership building and bid development, risk assessment, export control, and research security compliance.
About You
This role will lead a team in identifying and mitigating risks related to international collaboration and enhance assurance in line with UK legislation and funder requirements. Managing a critical and ever-changing function in Trusted Research and security compliance, the postholder will be required to support the Head of International Research and Innovation in formulating policy and guidance to ensure Queen Mary’s compliance with UK Export Control and security legislation, as well as monitoring legislative and funding compliance for international research collaborations within a global context.
As part of the JRMO management team, with the potential to grow and develop the Research Security team, they will lead a team in advising Faculties on case due diligence, export licensing applications, and National Security and Investment Act (NSI Act) notifications, Foreign Influence and Registration Scheme (FIRS), and in developing University training concerning risks in international research.
