Background
The Windows Service Engineer is a role within the Operations Team. The Operations Team is primarily responsible for on-prem and cloud hosted Microsoft services. These services include supporting, securing, configuring, and maintaining: Windows Server and associated infrastructure, Microsoft 365 services, Entra ID and Active Directory, and Microsoft SQL Databases.
The Operations Team is part of a wider Enterprise Technology Services team that provides support on backend infrastructure, such as Networking, Datacentre, Telecoms, Linux and Endpoint devices.
Responsibilities
Provide detailed technical knowledge on a range of core service-delivery systems, including (but not limited to) basic Windows Server operations, backup, patching, databases and ancillary Microsoft products/services such as Active Directory, Group Policies, DNS, Office 365 and Entra ID.
Person Specification
You will be familiar with the above technologies and their interaction with the Microsoft Windows desktop operating systems.
The Operations Team is looking for a self-confident technologist, that can manage their time, work with diverse systems, is capable of communicating effectively, and can work both on their own and as part of a team.
The person should hold an MCSE or MCP(s) in relevant technical areas, or hold demonstrable technical knowledge gained through experience and participation in project related work.
Experience with Microsoft Office 365 including Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, One Drive for Business and SharePoint Online is essential.

The selection process will involve an interview and an assessment/exercise. Further details will be confirmed at the interview stage. The test will be a question and answer computer session covering the various technologies used in the role.
