University College London (UCL) is a multi-faculty college of the University of London with a population of over 52,000 students, from more than 150 different countries. UCL is among the world’s top universities, as reflected in performance in a range of rankings and tables.
The UCL Arts and Sciences (UASc) department is the home for the Bachelor of Arts and Sciences (BASc), which is the UK's leading interdisciplinary degree, covering arts, social sciences and sciences degree. The department also runs the BA in Creative Arts and Humanities, the Masters in Arts and Sciences in Creative Health and the Interdisciplinary Societies, Arts and Sciences PhD programme.
We are looking for a fixed-term Study Abroad Officer to continue running our well-established Study Abroad programme for the outgoing undergraduate students and incoming Affiliate / exchange students. They are the main point of contact for both incoming Affiliates and outgoing study abroad students and are responsible for managing the process within the Arts and Sciences department.
The day-to-day responsibilities include guiding outgoing study abroad students with their UCL application and application to their host institution, running briefing sessions for outgoing students, working with the Study Abroad Tutor to manage incoming Affiliate applications, providing guidance to Affiliate students on their course choices and ensuring the webpages and Study Abroad and Traineeship Moodle and SharePoint pages are kept up to date. In addition, the postholder will also take on recruitment activities within the department and help manage the BASc Admissions shared inbox.
As well as managing and seeking out new partnership agreements with international institutions to enable BASc students to study abroad on programmes which are in line with their own pathway module combinations, the Study Abroad Officer will also be required to improve the recruitment of independent Affiliate students and, in conjunction with the Study Abroad Tutor, to monitor and support the Affiliate students while they are at UCL.
S/he will also be required to continue developing the traineeship year abroad, with a view to developing our participation in the Turing Scheme and how this relates to our prior Erasmus+ traineeships and establishment of agreements with new partners, working in conjunction with the central Study Abroad Team
The postholder will be educated to degree level (or equivalent) and have solid experience working in an HE administrative environment and with students. Previous experience of student recruitment and mobility activity, ideally to include knowledge of the Turing Scheme is essential.
The postholder will have excellent communication, interpersonal and team working skills and be able to manage and prioritise their own workload. Personal experience of participation in study abroad or international mobility and knowledge of another modern language is desirable.
The post is based at the Bloomsbury campus, but some travel to the UCL East campus may be required.
This post is full-time and available from 28 April 2025 until 27 April 2026.
The advert will close at 23:59 BST on Friday 25 April 2025.
