About the role

The Teaching & Learning Administrator will provide comprehensive and professional support for the Department’s MSc programmes: currently MSc in Financial Mathematics and MSc in Mathematical Modelling plus a new MSc in Mathematics starting in September 2026. The Teaching & Learning Administrator reports to the Departmental Manager, and also works closely with other departmental staff including, in particular, the PGT Programme Directors and Admissions Tutors.

This role is a member of the Departmental Teaching and Learning Team, which includes 4 Teaching and Learning Administrators and two Senior Teaching and Learning Administrators. The role also includes engagement monitoring for PGT students.

The post will provide support for all matters relating to the teaching and learning activities of MSc students from enquiry to completion, incorporating supporting committees and processes relating to assessment, student and course records.

The post holder must be efficient, organised, and take great care in attention to detail. In addition, the post requires interaction with many people within and external to UCL thus a professional attitude, willingness to help and a positive outlook are required to adequately execute the duties outlined.

About you

A successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above including Mathematics and English Language, or equivalent, or having acquired equivalent vocational/commercial knowledge and experience of working this area. They will have experience of providing administration support, in a busy office, with a strong knowledge of higher/further education or a teaching and learning environment. They should also have experience of course/programme administration and be familiar with online learning environments.

The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work confidently and diplomatically with people at all levels, from prospective students to senior colleagues in a teaching and learning context. They will have an excellent level of literacy, oral and written communication skills and an advanced skill level using Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook. They will need to work under pressure and deal with high volumes of processing and meet time critical schedules such as organising student-facing events, working with students, academics, and support staff to achieve agreed goals. A successful candidate will be willing and able to learn and use new systems quickly, including UCL specific systems such as Portico and be able to extract, collate and present information in complex report form to produce various examination reports.

An outstanding candidate will be educated to A level standard, or equivalent, or having acquired equivalent experience. They will have experience with administrative work within the Higher Education sector, or similar, and the ability to use web publishing software to produce documents for web/Moodle in relation to teaching.
