Summary of the role
A full time Assistant Technician is required at the University of Exeter in Cornwall. The role is to provide technical support for a range of disciplines across the faculty including Ecology and Conservation, Geography, Geology, Mining and Engineering.
The role primarily supports the Education team for both laboratory classes and field trips. The role will be based in the Teaching Laboratories but will entail activities across the entire campus area including research Laboratories and occasional travel away from the campus.
The role will be varied and fast paced. There will be a requirement to undertake daily task to support staff and students across all areas including sterilisation or equipment and waste, chemical handling and sample preparation, as well as specialist teaching support.
Examples of support you will offer include setting up practicals, demonstrating lab and field techniques, organising field kit for international field trips, maintaining insect populations and fish stocks, making media, sorting sediment samples, preparing polished mounts and thin sections for microscopy
