Background

Based within Student Inclusion and Engagement the Widening Participation Outreach Team supports young people in making realistic, well-informed decisions about their future, challenging preconceptions, and helping them to develop the skills, knowledge and grades required to meet their aspirations. Working with target schools and colleges across London the team aim to remove barriers, improve attainment, and empower underrepresented learners to access and succeed in higher education.

Responsibilities The post holder will coordinate the successful delivery of the English and Maths Secondary Tutoring; recruiting, training, and managing City student tutors, monitoring progress and attendance of both pupils and tutor, tracking against budget and producing the project evaluation and annual report. The role will involve exploring additional tutoring activities with target Secondary Schools to complement the tutoring schemes and to meet the needs of the pupils and school. In addition, you will coordinate the successful delivery of the Maths revision day events at City, tracking against budget, and producing evaluation reports for each event. Person Specification

An understanding and up to date knowledge of the widening participation agenda and barriers to entering HE is essential. Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding issues is key to the role. Experience of working with young people in a school or youth work setting is required.

The post holder will have experience in planning and delivering projects with excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills as well as the ability to manage relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
