The role

Are you a passionate researcher looking for an exciting opportunity to make a real impact? We’re seeking a talented individual to join the EPSRC-funded Digital Health and Care Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT)—a unique, multidisciplinary PhD programme that brings together expertise from health and life sciences, computer science, design, and engineering.

As part of this dynamic team, you’ll contribute to innovative research projects while shaping the future of digital health. You'll also play a key role in driving strategic initiatives, from building external partnerships with industry and the NHS to leading public engagement activities and organizing a high-profile digital health seminar series with an international reach.

What will you be doing?

  • Support the strategic and day-to-day operations of the Digital Health and Care Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT).
  • Contribute to existing research projects focused on brain and mental health, physical activity, and sleep, with a special emphasis on children and young people’s health.
  • Conduct and support both qualitative and quantitative research, using methods such as longitudinal data collection, ecological momentary assessment, systematic reviews, human-computer interaction and co-design.
  • Assist with prototyping and ethics applications.
  • Build external partnerships with industry, the NHS, and other stakeholders.
  • Lead public engagement initiatives to increase awareness and impact.  
  • Organize and run the Digital Health seminar series, with a focus on international academic collaboration.
  • Contribute to research publications, conference submissions, and grant applications.
  • Provide support and mentorship to PhD students.

You should apply if

You have:

  • A PhD in Digital Health or a closely aligned field or equivalent professional experience in the research area.
  • Strong methodological and writing skills, particularly in longitudinal data collection, ecological momentary assessment, systematic reviews, human-computer interaction, and codesign.
  • Experience in external partnering and public engagement.Expertise in childhood disorders, brain, and mental health.
  • Experience in designing and conducting research with wearables, apps, or devices.
  • Strong skills in collecting, analysing, and writing mixed-methods data, with proficiency in qualitative and statistical analysis software.
  • Experience running focus groups, particularly with vulnerable populations (e.g., children, individuals with mental health disorders).
  • Independent research experience and high-level analytical skills.

Please note: this role offers 50% - 100% FTE from March 2025 for one year, with the post holder required to work on Campus.
