The role
The role is a dietary data analyst, using dietary data derived from a food frequency questionnaire in a population cohort. Derived data will form the basis of datasets that will be made available to researchers worldwide for analyses of the associations between diet and health and disease. You will be working closely with Dr Caroline Taylor and Dr Pauline Emmett, who have in depth experience of dietary data collection, analysis and application in ALSPAC.
The post is advertised at 0.8 FTE but is flexible and can be negotiated.
What will you be doing?
The purpose of the role is to adapt/develop, test and employ scripts in a statistical package for the analysis of the new dietary data from the updated ALSPAC food frequency questionnaire. This will enable derivation of data such as nutrient intakes and food groups intakes. This will require complex evidence-based decisions on disaggregation of groups of food items and application of knowledge of food composition and nutrient sources, and food groups and dietary scores.
You should apply if
Applicants should have experience of working with SPSS or a similar statistical package and have experience of working with analysis of data from cohort studies, preferably dietary data. Applicants will need to demonstrate close attention to detail and evidence of an ability to keep meticulous records. They will need to work logically and document work accurately. They will need to be able to communicate effectively with project members and colleagues orally and in writing.
