Applications are invited for a Machine Learning/AI Scientist, to work alongside Dr. Subhashisa Swain on a research programme on using an artificial intelligence (AI) approach in large electronic health records to assist healthcare professionals undertake medication reviews and identify inappropriate medications prompting an action for deprescribing in People Living with Dementia in the UK, especially at later stages of the condition. We also aim for developing a computer system tool that helps healthcare professionals review and manage treatments regimens for people living with dementia in care homes. We are looking for a talented scientist with sound knowledge in digital health or electronic health records and AI/ML such as LLM and GNN.

The post holder will design relevant algorithms (under supervision), build the software and contribute to the development of the AI models. The post requires experience in quantitative research and analysis of electronic health data. The successful candidate will manage and deliver the quantitative element of the project.

Responsibilities will include taking full responsibility for overseeing and executing the quantitative analysis; exploring, designing, and implementing ML/AI algorithms relevant to project data; sharing key results and insights by delivering compelling presentations at academic and professional events and taking ownership of day-to-day research tasks, from data collection to analysis, ensuring activities align with the project schedule.

You will be based in the Radcliffe Primary Care Building, Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, Woodstock Road, Oxford, OX2 6GG as your normal place of work. You may be able to agree a pattern of regular remote working with your line manager.

The position is offered full time (part time hours with a minimum of 0.5FTE may be considered), until 28 February 2026 in the first instance.
