Annual Leave: 35 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year.

Location: College Lane Campus, Hatfield, University of Hertfordshire

Main duties & responsibilities

The successful applicant will be expected to participate in teaching, assessment and module management on the programmes delivered by the midwifery education team within the School and have the opportunity to contribute to research. You will contribute to the administration of the School by undertaking additional roles, such as module lead, or by joining teams involved in other activities such as admissions, timetabling or programme support. 

Skills and experience required

Coming from a background of broad experience of relevant midwifery practice, you will be a practising midwife with recent academic and / or clinical experience in the UK, committed to enhancing the profile of midwifery education with some experience in supporting and mentoring, plus teaching students. Ideally you will also have research or audit experience.

You will be able to work effectively and adaptably both within a team and without close supervision and will be willing to contribute to inter-professional teaching and learning activities. You will have a sustained interest and knowledge of contemporary midwifery practice, proficiency in English language, and good communication skills.

Qualifications required

You will have a minimum of an honour’s degree in midwifery or equivalent qualifications and have completed or be close to completing, a Masters’ degree or a PhD in a related subject. Holding a teaching qualification or Fellowship of Advance HE would be advantageous. You must be registered with the NMC.
