Annual Leave: 30 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year
Main Duties and Responsibilities
You will assist the Occupational Health team in the provision of a comprehensive Occupational Health (OH) service to all employees and students (as appropriate) in the university, to promote the health and wellbeing of both staff and students at University of Hertfordshire (UH). You will support with staff and students new starter assessments, including but not limited to conducting health surveillance including screening, immunisations and phlebotomy. The Occupational Health Screening Nurse will be responsible for providing professional advice, support and guidance to the Service Users and wider multidisciplinary team.
You will undertake pre-employment/placement OH assessments, providing guidance on candidates' suitability for specific job roles/courses of study, with support from the Occupational Health Manager when necessary. You will conduct a range of health assessments in more complex cases to determine suitability for appointment of new starters. You will adhere to professional codes of conduct and relevant legislation, including GDPR, to ensure the confidentiality of information regarding clients, stakeholders, and university business.
Skills and experience required
You will have experience of working in an Occupational Health environment as well as experience in Occupational Health Nursing. Experience in phlebotomy and vaccination and experience in Hep B, MMR and Varicella vaccination in the last 12 months and confident doing venepuncture is essential for this role. You will have knowledge of relevant drugs and medicine legislation to Occupational Health practice and evidence of up-to-date knowledge base of professional and specialist issues specifically in health surveillance to include, audiometry, spirometry, vision screening. You will have the ability to prioritise and be self-motivated with good interpersonal and communication skills, written and oral.
Qualifications required
You will be educated with a minimum of A-Levels or equivalent, or proven experience and be a Registered Nurse – Adult (Part 1 Nursing and Midwifery Council Register).
