Role
As a Laboratory Support Worker, you will part of the Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry teams, and responsible for the provision of cleaning services in the teaching laboratories and practice areas managed by the faculty, maintaining a high standard of housekeeping within these areas. The working hours are 20 hours per week (10am - 2pm, Monday to Friday) for 35 weeks of the academic year, with 3 weeks off in Easter, 3 weeks off at Christmas and 11 weeks off during summer. Please note that the salary shown is the full-time salary, therefore, the salary will be pro-rata to reflect the part time, term time only nature of the role.
Main responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Washing (by both hand and machine) and drying of laboratory glassware and equipment; Cleaning work surfaces and equipment within the laboratories, preparation areas and practice suites; Returning glassware and equipment to designated sites; Cleaning of sinks and waste areas in laboratories and preparation areas; Operation of laboratory washing machines and drying cabinets following clearly defined instructions; Demonstrate good laboratory practice to ensure a safe working environment; Assisting with the removal of clinical and other waste to designated areas; General housekeeping and other tasks that may be commensurate to the role.
