We are seeking a proactive and skilled individual to join Cambridge University Libraries as the Open Research Community Manager. This is an exciting time to contribute to the advancement of open research at the University of Cambridge, and the development of a community and culture centred on open research.
The University of Cambridge is committed to promoting and supporting the development of an Open Research culture, linking researchers and the wider community through shared knowledge to accelerate the pursuit of knowledge and foster international collaboration. We want our research culture to be the very best it can be, because we know that a good culture will attract the best researchers, and in looking after those researchers, we empower them to do their best work. Cambridge University Libraries play a leadership role in this area, partnering with researchers and other parts of the University's professional services to ensure that the right systems and services are in place to support open research practices.
The Open Research Community Manager is based within the Libraries' Office of Scholarly Communication and reports to the Head of Open Research Services. This role is key to facilitating the sharing of open research expertise between researchers and ensuring that open research services and policies are rooted in the needs of the Cambridge research community. You will work closely with the Research Culture team (based within the University's HR Division) to ensure that there is strong operational alignment between open research and research culture initiatives.
You will establish and develop a Cambridge Open Research Community, bringing researchers across the University together to enable exchange of expertise in open and rigorous research practices. You will develop an understanding of how research needs vary across different disciplines and research practices. You will use this understanding to inform the development of open research policies and services as part of the University's Open Research Programme, leading projects to further develop these services. You will raise the profile of open research at Cambridge through internal and external engagement in collaboration with researchers and professional services leads across the University.
We would be happy to consider flexible working arrangements.
