The Library Services team plays a vital role in supporting teaching, learning, and research endeavours by ensuring access to collections of print and electronic resources that cater to the information needs of taught and research students and academic staff. 

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Librarian (Research and Resources) to join our Libraries and Student Support team.   If you are a skilled and forward-thinking library professional with a passion for research support and resource management, this is a fantastic opportunity for you to help shape the future of academic library services in a student-centred higher education environment.

As Senior Librarian (Research and Resources), your key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the Research Repository - https://eprints.glos.ac.uk/ : Ensure effective organisation, accessibility and compliance of research outputs and materials.
  • Developing cross-University research support: Collaborate with the University’s Head of Research, Research Team, and key academic stakeholders to create and implement research support strategies.
  • Supporting researchers: Help students and staff navigate their information needs, fostering a strong research environment.
  • Resource management: Oversee the acquisition and maintenance of digital and print resources, working with colleagues engaged in their selection, purchase, and management and ensuring the collections meet the evolving needs of users, incorporating workflows to support efficient delivery of library services.
  • Content Management Policy: Collaborate with the Library Services Manager, Senior Librarian (Academic Liaison),and Academic Liaison Librarians to develop a comprehensive content management policy.

You will engage with cross-institutional stakeholders, driving collaboration and innovation in research support services, and ensuring that the library continues to meet the evolving needs of the academic community.

What We Are Looking For

We are seeking an innovative and forward-thinking individual with:

degree and/or postgraduate library qualification.

Strong experience in Higher Education research support services, including managing research repositories and understanding open access and REF compliance.

A proven ability to engage and collaborate with academic and professional staff to enhance access to resources.

Demonstrated experience in collection management and budget administration.

The ability to contribute to the development of policies and procedures that enhance library services.

Excellent leadership and communication skills, with a proactive and flexible approach to delivering library services and supporting research students and staff.
