About the role

The Bodleian Libraries are currently seeking to appoint two Security Team Members to join the Security section. Our team is essential to the care and security of our historic buildings and collections and you will play an important part in ensuring the smooth running of our daily operations in the Weston Library, Old Bodleian Library, and Radcliffe Camera.

Daily duties will vary considerably and you will provide our customers, both Library and Commercial, with a safe and welcoming environment conducive to their particular needs.

Working patterns are expected to be over a three weekly rota and the hours of each post are as follows:

Post 1: Full-time 36.5 hours per week

Post 2 : Full time 36.5 hours per week.

Post 3: Part-time 32 hours per week (0.87%  FTE)

Post 4 : Part time 19.5 hours per week evening shift 5.15pm- 9.15pm

The postholders are expected to work one in every three weekends. Please indicate on your application which of the posts you would like to be considered for.

Due to the nature of this post, the successful candidate will be required to undertake a satisfactory basic Disclosure and Barring Service check, due to working with collection items and in restricted areas.

About you

You will be able to demonstrate the ability to maintain composure and authority in all circumstances, have the ability to interact with people at all levels in the organisation and beyond, and the ability to work as part of a team. You will be observant with an eye for detail and be able to demonstrate a good standard of written and spoken English.

You will also be willing to work some antisocial hours including evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays. The ability to complete repeated tasks and spend significant time standing and walking is also essential.

An industry-recognised security qualification and/or training and experience of security duties and a first aid qualification are desirable.
