This role will be based on the University campus with scope for it to be undertaken in a hybrid manner. We are also open to discussing flexible working arrangements.
Do you have experience of managing complex events or projects? Would you enjoy working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders to deliver an exceptional experience for students from all over the world?
As Operations and Events Manager you will be responsible for managing our International Arrival Support services, welcoming thousands of new students each year. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure all aspects of the service meet the needs of our international students.
You will also manage a small team providing operational support to enable the successful delivery of an exciting range of welcome support, community-building activities and intercultural experiences for students. You will be responsible for managing logistical and financial processes and overseeing the recruitment, training and supervision of 60 student ambassadors. As well as managing the Arrival Support services, you will have the opportunity to manage other smaller-scale events and projects during the year.
This is a demanding role with competing priorities, requiring effective organisational, problem-solving, and people skills, which offers the reward of making a real impact on students and their sense of belonging at Leeds.
In addition to having managed complex events or projects, you will need to have experience of forecasting and managing budgets and using purchasing processes. This role will also require you to be able to work with colleagues across the University to ensure our activities are compliant with policies related to health & safety, food hygiene, GDPR and financial regulations.
This role will require some out of hours work during the year, along with working early shifts and up to 10 consecutive days during the main 3-week arrival period in September, with shorter periods of working these hours during the arrival periods in January and July.
Please note that due to Home Office visa requirements, this role may only be suitable for first-time Skilled Worker visa applicants if they are eligible for salary concessions. For more information please visit: www.gov.uk/skilled-worker-visa
