With such a varied portfolio, there is never a dull day in the Estates Team here at Reading. As well as being responsible for the management and maintenance of the University’s academic teaching and research buildings, we also care for a significant collection of Champion Trees, an expansive lake and the university SportsPark.

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and flexible individual to join the Risk and Compliance team as Accessibility Advisor, within the Estates department.

The post holder will principally be involved in the procurement of Accessibility Audits for the buildings within the Academic Estate and for delivering a programme of work that will improve accessibility across our three main campuses using the audit recommendations. The information from the Audit and Works Programme will help to inform future capital investment across the Estate, and the post holder will have responsibility for an annual budget of c£200k to undertake minor works.

The post holder will create and maintain a University of Reading Accessibility Guide to provide visitors, prospective students and staff with the necessary information to make full use of our facilities.

There will be a requirement to create an interactive web platform as a resource for people to access the Accessibility Guide information.

You will have:

  • A degree level qualification
  • An understanding of disability/ accessibility issues within a Higher Education setting and an understanding of the Equalities Act 2010.
  • Ability to read and interpret building plans
  • Experience of progressing multiple workstreams/ projects
