The Civic HealthTech Innovation Zone (CHI-Zone) is being established to accelerate the growth of the health and life science sector, upskill residents and create jobs for the Liverpool City Region.
In this role, you will join an ambitious team leveraging novel artificial intelligence (AI) tools and large language models (LLMs) to democratise access to analysis and improve statistical awareness. You will work closely with the Civic Health Innovation Labs (CHIL) team, reporting to Dr Samuel Ball and advised by Prof Iain Buchan, CHIL Director. You will also engage with university colleagues from across Health Data Sciences and with a wide range of Industry and public sector partners.
Your principal responsibility will be to develop tools to empower those without specialist technical knowledge to generate effective statistical analyses. You will use AI and LLMs to develop models and tools in a transparent and reproducible manner, engaging with stakeholders to ensure that the outputs meet their needs.
You should have a PhD (or equivalent) in Data Science, or related fields.
The post is available on a fixed term basis from 1st April 2025 until 31st March 2029.
Interviews for this role will take place during the month of January 2025.
Although the university has a hybrid working system, we expect that the applicant appointed to this role will work more than 60% on campus.
If you are still awaiting your PhD to be awarded you will be appointed at Grade 6, spine point 30. Upon written confirmation that you have been awarded your PhD, your salary will be increased to Grade 7, spine point 31.
