We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Trials Research Data Integration Lead to join Oxford Cancer, a city-wide research initiative and partnership between Oxford University, Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust, Thames Valley Cancer Alliance and the Oxfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group. We seek to harnesses Oxford’s world-leading cancer research from our growing network of 1,000+ members who are working in cancer-related fields.
The Oncology Clinical Trials Office (OCTO) is part of the Oxford Cancer network and is responsible for the set up and management of clinical trials and studies in early cancer detection, precision prevention and early phase drug trials (first in human to randomised phase II).
The role requires a competent and multi-skilled data manager with proficiency in programming, to lead development, integration and maintenance of cancer data information systems to support clinical trials. The role will focus on supporting the established database, web systems, and frameworks for high-throughput data processing and integration. The role will also involve utilising high-performance computing clusters, storage systems, databases, and web applications to manage and integrate cancer data. This is a diverse role and will involve contributing to database and software development projects at all stages of their lifecycle.
The post holder will be managed by the Strategic Data Platform Development Lead, and responsible to the OCTO Trial Management Director.
The post is based at Oxford Cancer, Churchill Hospital, Oxford, OX3 7LE and is offered on a full-time, fixed-term basis until 31st March 2027.
About you
You will have a postgraduate degree with a significant computer science/bioinformatics component and demonstrable experience of clinical trials data management, including working to Good Clinical Practice standards, and the legislation applicable to the conduct of clinical trials in the UK (Candidates with less experience or qualifications may be considered for Grade 7). You will be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of R/Python related to data processing and analytic pipelines. You will have previous project management experience for the planning, development, roll-out, and support of client-facing software systems.
You will have excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communications skills, with the ability to work with people at all levels of organisational seniority, along with a disciplined and professional approach to work, ability to work unsupervised and to contribute as an effective member of the team to deliver team-orientated goals. Demonstrable decision-making skills and the ability to apply original thought in order to develop appropriate solutions to complex administrative and management problems is essential.
