Join Us as Senior Lab Manager – Be the Driving Force Behind World-Class Research

Are you an organised, methodical technical services leader with a passion for creating a safe, efficient, and forward-thinking and fast paced research environment? We’re looking for someone just like you to join our team as Senior Lab Manager, overseeing the Energy Storage Laboratory and supporting cutting-edge research within the Rex Richards Building in the Department of Materials.

In this key role, you’ll ensure the smooth daily running of our laboratories, enabling our PIs and researchers to conduct high-quality science in a safe, well-supported environment. Working alongside the Department Safety Officer and Facilities Team, you’ll champion best practices in, health and safety, driving continuous improvement and strengthening our lab culture and operations.

We’re seeking someone who can lead by example — a proactive problem-solver who’s not only technically skilled but also a supportive mentor and role model. You’ll provide hands-on lab management support across multiple research groups, collaborating with both internal teams and external partners.

As a core member of the Department’s Operations Leadership Team, you’ll play a strategic role in shaping our technical services provision, contributing to initiatives that support the professional development and recognition of technical staff through the Technician Commitment.

Whether you’re supporting Principal Investigators, helping non-expert researchers and students navigate complex lab equipment, or supporting collaborative projects, your impact will be far-reaching — and as our team expands, so will your leadership and management responsibilities.

If you're ready to make a real difference in the future of energy research and technical excellence, we’d love to hear from you.

All applications must be made online using the Oxford University E-Recruitment system, no later than 12 noon on Tuesday, 6 May 2025. You will be required to upload a CV and a Supporting Statement as part of your application. Please do not attach any manuscript, papers, transcripts, mark sheets or certificates as these will not be considered as part of your application.

Interviews are scheduled to take place on Wednesday 21 May 2025 and you must be available on this date, either by Teams, Zoom or in person.
