We are seeking a Post-doctoral Research Assistant to work at the Centre for Human Genetics. The laboratory is developing novel therapeutics for heart disease and for Type 1 diabetes. The projects are funded by awards from Steve Morgan Foundation T1D Grand Challenge, Diabetes UK, Breakthrough-T1D and the British Heart Foundation. A key aim of this project is to develop peptidomimetics from a pan-chemokine-inhibiting tick peptide developed in the Bhattacharya laboratory. The post-holder will be encouraged and supported to apply for fellowships in the fields of peptide/peptidomimetic therapeutics to develop their independent scientific careers.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, managing, executing and analysing experiments, and ensuring that key deliverables (peptidomimetic synthesis, potency and stability studies) are met.
 
The successful candidate will hold a PhD in an appropriate subject area and have substantial research experience in peptide/peptidomimetic synthesis, mass spectrometry, peptide stability and potency assays.
