Are you passionate about the challenges and opportunities of cultural work, and the ideas around concepts such as 'free' labour, cultural convergence and the 'prosumer'? Could you teach differing viewpoints on the relationship between changes in communication technologies and changes in the cultural workplace?
If so, Birkbeck, University of London, is seeking an Associate Lecturer to join the School of Creative Arts, Culture and Communication in 2025.
As Associate Lecturer you will teach the module
• Working in the Creative and Cultural Sector• 30 hours in total• 10 teaching days
You will have knowledge of challenges and opportunities of cultural work in both a contemporary and historical setting, experience of working in one or more fields of the creative or cultural sector, and be qualified to the corresponding level of the award as required to teach (or demonstrate equivalent professional/industry level experience).

Remuneration: Payment is based on an hourly rate depending on length of continuous service with the College (starting rate £68.13 per hour inclusive of pro-rata London Allowance and holiday pay) for contact hours worked. This hourly rate is based on the starting point of Grade 7 and is inclusive of a ‘Duties Related to Teaching Multiplier’ at 2.5, which covers preparation, teaching, administration, assessment marking and other examining duties in connection with the course.
